What is Bacon? When we talk about Bacon we are normally talking about Pork Bacon. It is cut off the Pig from the side or back of the Pig. Most of the time Bacon is cured with salt, nitrates, and sugar, then smoked. Cuts can be Thin or Thick. It is layered with Fat and Meat. The Fat is what makes the Bacon so good. It is mostly cooked off and brings the meat flavor out and savory. Bacon is used as a side dish to things like Eggs or it is added to dishes like Hamburgers and BLTs. It has even been made into dessert as Chocolate Covered Bacon.
